From the East
The annual Shiloh picnic (panic) at Cooper Farm was a big success with over 40 people in attendance. We enjoyed great food and even better fellowship. The following Saturday we had our Shiloh Golf Outing. Congratulations to the team of Vrtiska / Ketchmark/ Reilys (Mike & Michelle) for winning the outing with an un-believable 2 over par. One last congratulations goes to Sharon for carrying the Gathmann team to victory in the yellow ball competition part of the outing. Next time you see Sharon Gathmann, have her explain what the rules of the yellow ball are.
Now for an important note. All Masons know the importance of our youth groups. It was brought to my attention that the Job's Daughters need new members. If you know of, or have a daughter, granddaughter, niece, step-daughter, step-granddaughter, etc. who would be interested, please contact Jim Taylor who is spearheading this pledge drive.
I'm happy to report that Jim Baxter is at home and doing well. Our prayers are with you and your family Jim.
The Grand Lodge of Nebraska Education Committee has recommended the following book to improve our knowledge of Freemasonry.
Freemasonry in American History By Allen E. Roberts
First published in 1985, this book is an excellent synopsis of American history and the parts played in it by various Masons, from colonial times through the early 1980's. Good survey, lots of information on famous Masons. Easy to read, but not any great depth to the work - like any other survey.
