Shiloh Lodge #327
September 1999
Trestleboard
From the East
Summer is almost over, the kids are getting ready to go back to school, and Lodge is about to begin again. I hope everyone is looking forward to the activities we have planned for the fall – starting with the initiation of some new members. Do you remember when you went through your degrees in Masonry? It was an assuring feeling knowing that some of my friends were in Lodge those nights, helping me through those difficult evenings. When I was brought to Light, seeing all of those Brothers made me feel pretty special. Please do the same for those new members this fall – attend the Lodge meetings and help with the degrees. Not only will it make the new guys feel special, too, it will make each one of you feel a part of OUR Lodge. Be a part of Masonry this fall, and I will guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
See you in Lodge!
Fraternally yours,
J. Scott Oglesby
Worshipful Master -- 1999

50-Year Dinner
Wednesday, September 22
At 6:30 pm
How Long is 50 Years?
How many of you can remember what you were doing 50 years ago? I can tell you right now that a lot of us were not even around then, or were just kids. 50 years is a long time any way you look at it, but 50 years as a Mason is very special, indeed. Not many of us will be fortunate enough to reach that milestone, so it is twice as special that two of Shiloh’s members will celebrate their 50 year membership this year. I feel proud to be Master this year, and able to honor these two gentlemen and friends.
Hal McMinn was raised April 19, 1949, and becomes Shiloh’s first 50-Year member. Charlie Amidon, who is a member of Florence Lodge, with dual membership in Shiloh, also celebrates 50 years in Masonry this year.
Shiloh Lodge will to pay tribute to Brothers Hal and Charlie at a dinner on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at 6:30 at Shiloh Lodge. Be sure to mark your calendars now. You will be contacted for reservations as the date nears, but I expect many of you will want to attend this special occasion.
