Shiloh Lodge #327
September 1998 Trestleboard

  From the East

Phew! Another month gone already?! Scott, look out .. your year is fast approaching!

Before I forget, please note that I have a new home phone number, 596-9774. No, we haven’t moved, just added a phone line and made our old number Becky’s business line. You can still get us at either number, I just won’t check her machine for messages so it will take longer to get to me.

A brief update on the building renovations. The parking lot has been re-surfaced and expanded, so come on out and take a look. September 30th would be a great time and it just happens to be the Ladies at the Table dinner. See the blurb other side of page and get your reservations in now!

Would you or someone you know be willing to act as Secretary for the Lodge? Don Benskin has done a super job as Secretary but can not continue after this year. All of us, and myself especially, really appreciate Don helping us out this year .. Thank You Don! We would like to get someone started immediately to begin learning the ropes, so please let me know of anyone possibly interested.

I would like to thank everyone who weren’t scared off by the rain and came out to our Family Picnic. It was a real good time had by all present. I especially

want to thank Rick Benson for his preparations (though he was unable to attend due to a funeral) and Todd Simpson who stepped up and helped out that night. What teamwork!

Fraternally Yours,

Paul D. Rutherford
Worshipful Master-1998

DUTY

"Every crime against our laws, every sin against decency and morality, every sharp practice against square dealing in business, is a serious reflection on the Masonic Lodge, in the neighborhood in which it is committed. Masonry should not take the pure principles of morality and preserve them in the walled up seclusion of lodge halls, like as we preserve fruit and vegetables and keep them in dark cellars for our own use; but our lodges and our lives should be as lighthouses, blazing out the truths of right living, to bless the community, state and nation, in which we have our being." (Milton Winham, P.G.M., Arkansas).

Ladies at the Table

Wednesday, September 23rd
6:00 p.m.
at Shiloh Lodge

This is a very fun evening for the Brethren and their ladies. If you have not been to one, you really should come out and experience it. This ceremony is a way for a Lodge to honor and give respect to the Mason’s Wife, Widow, Daughter, Mother, etc., and consists of a dinner followed by a series of formal toasts (using wine or non-alcoholic juice, your choice).

Dinner will be a buffet style of Roast Beef, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Rice.
Cost is $10.00 per person, payable prior or at the door.

Call Dave Sharp at 348-1400 (day)
or 491-3405 (evening) for reservations.

We must have a final count by Friday, September 25th, so don’t delay!

In Error ... last month I incorrectly stated that Phil Lorenzen had colon surgery over the summer, when in fact it was prostate surgery. I am, however, still pleased to report that the surgery was a success and he is doing well. Sorry, Phil!

We were all glad to see Jim Riley at the family picnic last month! Jim is fighting strong against MS and can use all our thoughts, prayers and support.
