From the East
It is hard to believe that it is already November and the year will quickly be coming to a close. Please mark your calendars for December 12th. Our Christmas Party will be at Venice Inn at 6:00 PM.
Sadly, I have to report the passing of two of our Past Masters. Sam Nielsen Master 1970, and Eugene Clifton Master 1975. Sam was one of the first people that I met when I came to Shiloh. Sam was a true gentleman. I will always remember him that way. While I did not know Eugene, I met his family at his visitation, and they all remarked as to how proud he was, as were they the year he was able to serve as Master.
On October 13th, Shiloh Lodge had the honor of a Cornerstone Ceremony at the Omaha Home for Boys. This event was made even more special as we received Most Worshipful Grand Master Philip A. Lorenzen. The ladies were also allowed in the Lodge for the receiving of Mr. Lorenzen.
The Omaha Home for Boys is having their annual Maintenance Campaign. Please donate to this fund-raiser if you are able. The monies raised helps with the boys’ care for the coming year.
I am proud to say the Shiloh donated $1.00 per member for a total of $131.00 to the Masonic Relief Fund for the victims of the September 11th attack.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time spent with family and friends.
Fraternally Yours,
John Maxell
The Grand Lodge of Nebraska Education Committee has recommended the following book to improve our knowledge of Freemasonry.
A Pilgrim’s Path – Freemasonry and the Religious Right
By John J. Robinson
By the same author as Born in Blood, Robinson takes on those who attack Freemasonry, (particularly the religious right) and in a very objective way arms reader with the facts that every Freemason should know to reaffirm and defend the tenets of our fraternity. If you seek to understand the relevance and pride that present-day Mason have for the fraternity, then this is a must-read.*****************************************************************************************
We would like to provide support to our brethren in times of distress and celebrate with them in times of gladness. Please immediately inform any of your lodge officers of such information regarding yourself or a brother.
