Shiloh Lodge #327
June 2002
Trestleboard
From the East
A recent Scottish Rite news article featured a 32 Mason who devoted a
considerable amount of time to Masonry and Rainbow Girls. It seems he became a
single parent with two young girls, ages 10 and 13. He looked to the Order of
Rainbow for Girls as a group of young ladies to help develop his two daughters.
What left and impression with me was his turning to a Masonic affiliated girl’s
organization to help in developing his daughters during their teenage years. In
this case it happened to be Rainbow Girls, but it could just as well have been
Job’s Daughters.
One of the Grand Master’s challenges this year is to support our youth groups.
He is suggesting every member attend at least one youth group meeting in 2002 to
show our support for their work. Just one meeting! Shiloh is affiliated with
Bethel #69 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters. They are very
appreciative in having Masons attend their meetings. Let’s show our support by
attending the installation of Honored Queen Elect Emily Ann Struebing and her
officers Saturday June 1st, 4:00 PM at Shi-Oma Temple.
Another important event in June is the One Day Conferral hosted by Shiloh Lodge
#327 at The Scottish Rite Center, June 29, 2002. Shiloh will have at least
two candidates for this conferral. Various lodges will conduct the different
Degrees. Mercer Lodge 290 will hold the EA Degree; Mizpah Lodge #302 the FC; and
Shiloh,1st Section Master Mason Degree. Confirmation of the Lodge conducting the
MM 2nd Section was not confirmed as of this writing.
The EA degree will start at 7 AM. This is a good opportunity to see the caliber
of degree work conducted by other lodges, as well as showing support for
Shiloh’s candidates. It’s an all day affair and lunch will be available.
As summer progresses, we move into August with the Family Picnic, Golf Outing,
and kick-off for the Omaha Home for Boys 2002 Maintenance Campaign. Before we
know it, fall will be here. In the meantime, HAVE A HAPPY SUMMER!
Fraternally yours,
Dale W. Nelson
Worshipful Master 2002
