Shiloh Lodge #327
August 2001 Trestleboard
From the East
Summer is almost over and hopefully it has been a fun filled season for everyone. It's now time to bring our attention back to our Masonic group. But, not with out having a little fun with our Masonic Brothers at Shiloh's Annual Cook-Out at Cooper Farm. All we ask is that you bring a side dish and your appetite. We will follow that up with Shiloh's 1st Annual Golf Outing on August 25th. This outing is for amateurs only!
We start September with a very busy week. We will have a Past Master's Dinner, and afterwards while the men retire to their business meeting the ladies will have a program hosted by Terryl Doane, owner of Terryl's Flower Garden. Terryl will speak and demonstrate preserving and flower arranging tips.
Shiloh will finish the week by having the Grand-Master's Breakfast at The Omaha Home for Boys Dinner Hall on Friday, September 7, at 7:30AM. I look forward to seeing you there.
Fraternally Yours,
John T. Maxell

The Grand Lodge of Nebraska Education Committee has recommended the following book to improve our knowledge of Freemasonry.
The Temple and Lodge
By Michael Biagent &
Richard Leigh
Like Born in Blood, this contemporary book traces Masonic origins to the Templars, but by a different path well-documented tracing of the Templars through Scotland and how that resurfaced as Freemasonry a couple centuries later. The book concludes with a wonderfully documented account of Freemasonry and American independence. If Born in Blood did not stir your fascination with the origins of our fraternity, then The Temple and the Lodge surely will.
